British Foreign Secretary David Cameron has promised that Britain will provide Ukraine with three billion pounds of annual military aid, and that this will happen «as much as it takes.»

He said this in an interview with the Reuters agency during an unannounced visit to Kyiv.

David Cameron's announcement is the biggest pledge of support for the UK since a full-scale invasion by Russia in 2022.

«We will give three billion pounds every year for as long as it takes. We just emptied everything we could in terms of providing equipment,» he said. «Some of this (equipment, — note) is actually arriving in Ukraine today while I'm here,» David Cameron added.

The British diplomat also welcomed the adoption by the US Congress of the long-awaited aid package worth 61 billion dollars for Ukraine.

«It is extremely important, and not only in terms of the weapons it will bring, but also in terms of the morale it will bring to the people here in Ukraine,» the minister said.

Cameron did not directly answer the question of how he feels about the possible re-election of Republican leader Donald Trump to the post of US president.

«It is not up to us to decide who the Americans will choose as their president - we will work with whoever it will be,» said David Cameron.

It will be recalled that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the largest ever package of military aid to Ukraine.

Earlier, Great Britain allocated almost 150 million pounds sterling (over 180 million dollars ) to strengthen the energy sector of Ukraine.
