The Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, said that the representatives of the countries are responsible for supporting the resolution of the war in Ukraine.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced this while speaking at the first plenary session of the Global Peace Summit on June 15.

«We gathered here (Peace Summit, — note) around a common understanding, common commitment to the UN Charter and International Law, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. This is our foundation and it must be our foundation and path to peace if we do not uphold these principles. So what are we all worth? We cannot accept borders changed by military force, where the aggressor sets the rules. We have a special responsibility to support the resolution of the war in Ukraine, to establish a just and lasting peace. Having arrived here today, we have assumed this responsibility,» said the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen.

In addition, she added that serious progress must be made on key issues: nuclear safety, ensuring reliable grain exports to global markets and the return of deported Ukrainians.

«These are not small steps, they can become global for many around the world. These steps should open the way to concrete results in other areas. It seems to me that everyone understands that it is not easy to achieve sustainable peace now. Especially because Russia does not want peace. Not in Ukraine, not in neighboring states, not in the Sahel region, not in the Middle East,» sums up the Danish Prime Minister.

Peace Summit

Ukraine plans to hold the first inaugural Peace Summit in Switzerland. There will be discussed, in particular, the Peace Formula to end the war. Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned against other countries imposing «any formats of negotiations» with Russia on Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, said that representatives of Russia may be invited to the second summit, which will not take place in Europe, where «they will be presented with this [peace] plan — in case the one who currently represents the aggressor country, will really want to end this war.»

It will be recalled that earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine already has confirmation of participation in the Peace Summit from more than 80 countries, and also called on US President Joseph Biden and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to join it.

China has refused to participate in the Global Peace Summit to be held in June in Switzerland. According to them, Beijing rejected the invitation because the conditions for participation were not met — the presence of both Ukraine and Russia at the conference.

Swiss President Viola Amgerd said that 90 countries and organizations, half of which are European, have confirmed their participation in the Peace Summit regarding Ukraine.
