SSU liquidated 47 agent networks across Ukraine last year

During 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine identified 47 spy networks of the Russian Federation, the largest of which operated in the Mykolaiv region.

The head of the department, Vasyl Maliuk, told about this on February 25 during the forum «Ukraine. The year is 2024».

The head of the SSU called agency networks «nest of vipers on the body of Ukraine».

«47 agent networks were discovered and detained last year. More than 2,000 traitors were suspected, more than 5,000 collaborators were detained since the beginning of the war. These are scoundrels who worked for the enemy. And today we are not targeting individual traitors, but are using the complex experience we have gained in the fight against organized crime,» said Vasyl Maliuk.

In particular, he mentioned one of the detained Dnipro intelligence networks, which worked for the General Staff of the Russian Federation. Following their tip-off, the Russians targeted a high-rise building in January of last year, killing 44 people.

«We documented them for a long time, and eight people were detained. They collected and transferred a large amount of information to the enemy, including organizing missile attacks,» he added.

According to Vasyl Maliuk, the agency network exposed in the Mykolaiv region was the largest and consisted of 13 people.

«The work is ongoing. There are many surprises ahead and, believe me, the enemy will not pass us by,» he declared.

As you know, a 30-year-old local resident was detained in Mykolaiv the other day, who was spying on the ships of the Armed Forces near the Mykolaiv seaport. The man faces up to 12 years in prison.

Earlier, law enforcement officers detained an employee of a local company who installed webcams near Mykolaiv Seaport to spy on ships of the Armed Forces. He faces life imprisonment.
