The Government of Ukraine has decided to fully cover the costs of farmers for demining agricultural lands. Previously, compensation was up to 80% of costs.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

According to the new conditions of the program, farmers who have a tax debt due to payment of land tax or single tax of group IV can be admitted to participate. In addition, bidding for the procurement of demining services must be conducted through the Prozorro system with the participation of at least two participants.

«We fully cover the cost of humanitarian demining of agricultural lands for agricultural producers who only plan to clear their plots. The state will cover the payment of such services so that farmers can sow and harvest crops on cleared plots next season,» said the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The government decree enters into force from the moment of publication. This will allow the Center for Humanitarian Demining to announce the first tenders for the purchase of demining services through Prozorro in the near future. To date, farmers have submitted 135 applications for the demining of 3,897 plots with a total area of more than 17,252 hectares.

The program is available to farmers whose land is located in the de-occupied territories, where, after a non-technical survey, it is confirmed or there is a possibility of contamination by explosive objects. The sites must be outside the 20-kilometer zone from the battle line or state border.
