Deputies are offered to buy a building to house a prosthetics center for military personnel in Mykolaiv

They plan to open a prosthetics center for military personnel on the basis of city hospital №4 in Mykolaiv. To do this, deputies are offered to purchase premises at the address Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street, 1A.

The corresponding project of the decision is published on the website of the city council, write NikVesti.

We are talking about a two-story building next to city hospital №4, Deputy Mayor Anatolii Petrov explained in a comment to the publication.

«They have a building there on the territory, 20 meters from the front entrance, let's say, which belongs to some public medical organization. They are the owners of this building, it has two floors. Why? Because the process of making prostheses is noisy. And the city council decided to buy this building. It is inexpensive — below the market price today. That's all I can say,» said Anatolii Petrov.

The German company Horus Prosthetics GmbH is helping Mykolaiv with the opening of the prosthetics center, which has provided equipment and technology for manufacturing prostheses, as well as training relevant specialists.

«They came, you could read earlier, they made 9 or 12 prostheses for the military there. Earlier, yes, they left us the equipment and production technology, and they are also working now on training specialists,» explained the deputy mayor.

He also explained that currently military personnel undergo prosthetics mainly in Lviv and are forced to go there once every three years for an examination, which creates certain inconveniences.

«What is the problem now? The problem is that military personnel who have lost their limbs receive prosthetics in Lviv and other cities, but the prosthesis is guaranteed for 3 years and must be serviced. It is very inconvenient to drive so far. That is why there is such an idea — to open a center on the basis of city hospital №4, where there will be a full cycle: from surgery to prosthetics and full rehabilitation,» added Anatolii Petrov.

Specialists of the company Horus Prosthetics GmbH, which specializes in the manufacture of prostheses for the lower limbs, use a technique with artificial intelligence, thanks to which prostheses are made in 90-120 minutes and repeat anatomical parameters, the city council reported earlier. And as of August 8, 2024, the health care department of the city council was already working on forming a register of patients.

It will be recalled that the State Property Fund sold at auction the single property complex of the «Mykolaiv State Experimental Prosthetic and Orthopedic Enterprise» for 7.15 million hryvnias.
