A new school shelter for 200 children was opened in Odesa region

In the Odesa region, a new shelter was opened at the Tuzly school, which will allow more than 200 male and female students from six villages of the community to return to full-time education.

This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

It is noted that almost 1 million hryvnias was collected for the arrangement of the shelter through the UNITED24 platform with the participation of tennis player Elina Svitolina. Among the benefactors, one of the companies that made the largest contribution of 850 thousand hryvnias was noted.

«Over 456 million hryvnias were raised by UNITED24 and the Office of Partnerships and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Culture for the reconstruction of 4 schools and the construction of 12 shelters. The first of them — the new shelter at the Tuzly school — is already working,» said First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Yevhen Kudriavets.

Collection of funds and work on the arrangement of the shelter lasted only 6 months.

It is noted that this year the state allocated 7.5 billion hryvnias from the state budget for the construction of underground schools. 70 underground schools are actively being built in priority front-line and border areas.

«Communities and schools have the opportunity to attract funds for the arrangement of safe educational spaces from the state and donors. To do this, they can create a profile in the DREAM ecosystem, submit their projects and follow announcements about financial support opportunities. Among them is the Odesa region, which received more than 500 million hryvnias,» the message says.

Earlier it was reported that the repair of the shelter was completed in another kindergarten in Mykolaiv.

Shelter in schools

We will remind that during 2025-2027 Mykolaiv City Council plans to allocate 245 million 485 thousand hryvnias for arranging shelters in educational institutions.

It should be noted that today in Mykolaiv the educational process covers 2,115 students who study face-to-face, 17,172 students in a mixed form, and 18,527 — remotely. In addition, 372 students receive their education individually.

As previously written by NikVesti, there are 31 secondary education institutions operating in Mykolaiv in full-time/mixed format. Another 11 educational institutions plan to work part-time/mixed after the completion of repair work in shelters and buildings.

On the other hand, only 22 of 73 preschool educational institutions are functioning in Mykolaiv today, in which 5,046 children study. They have already finished repairing the shelter in another kindergarten, it should be operational in the near future. Work continues in another 14 kindergartens.

We will remind that the Mykolaiv City Council is going to allocate 16.2 billion hryvnias for the implementation of the «Education» program for 2025-2027, 10.3 billion are planned to be allocated from the city budget. The amount of funding for the program is twice the previous budget for education in 2022-2024, which amounted to 8.6 billion hryvnias.

As of November 13, 31 basic shelters were repaired in Mykolaiv secondary education institutions. Currently, repair works are ongoing in 13 secondary education institutions. Also, in the city, repairs were completed in another gymnasium shelter in the Zavodskyi district.
