Work for IDPs: during the full-scale war, more than 2,000 displaced persons used the services of the employment center in Mykolaiv

Since the beginning of 2023, the number of people who have received the status of unemployed in the Mykolaiv region has reached 900 people. During the entire time of the full-scale invasion, more than 2,000 displaced people received a full range of services from the center.

Dmytro Oboronko, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Employment Center, told about this during the briefing, «NikVesti» writes.

During the period of military operations, about 2,000 IDPs applied to the center. In the past year, most of all, this was forced by emigrants from the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.

— It is necessary to stimulate this category for job search. Acquaint people with vacancies and encourage employers to provide a certain number of vacancies specifically for IDPs. If we talk about statistics, it is interesting to analyze statistical data from the beginning of military operations. The dynamics are tracked as follows: since the beginning of hostilities, more than 2,000 internally displaced persons have contacted us. These are people who received the full range of our services. If we talk about those people who received the status of unemployed, then since the beginning of military operations, we counted 1,600 people. Since 2023, 900 people have received the status, — Dmytro Oboronko said.

The head of the center says that the institution adapts to the format of people's needs in order to provide this category with a full range of services, including job search, career guidance, legal consultations, etc.

In addition, in the current year, people are offered more temporary employment in socially useful work, which is also additionally financed.

— Communities actively use this program. Because the involvement of people allows the involvement of funding and the acceleration of recovery of the Mykolaiv region, — says the head of the employment center.

Branches of the Employment center in the Mykolaiv region continue to function in 4 districts, but the institution is not physically present in all territorial communities. For this, mobile mobile centers from international partners are also involved in the work to serve people.

— We don't have a building in Snihurivka, it was completely destroyed after the occupation. The premises in Novyy Buh were damaged. As of October, our premises in Ochakiv are not being used. In conditions where there is no light or communication, we can work with our clients, — he added.

As of October 2023, almost 15,000 internally displaced children were officially registered in the Mykolaiv region.
