In Mykolaiv, by September 2024, they plan to equip shelters in all educational institutions with basements. Currently, there are approximately 52 such institutions.
This was announced by the deputy mayor of Mykolaiv, Anatolii Petrov, on the air of the MART TV channel.
— Unfortunately, we cannot organize storage facilities or the simplest shelters in all educational institutions, because some institutions do not have basements. We have approximately 52 institutions with such facilities. Today, the Department of Education is carrying out repair work and creating the simplest shelters in 30 institutions, — the deputy mayor said.
He also added that international partners are also helping the city with the arrangement of shelters, so educational institutions will be ready to work offline in September 2024.
— I think that with the joint efforts of the Mykolaiv City Council and international organizations, we will be ready for the beginning of the next school year. This is ideal.
We do not know what the situation will be at the front, so today it is difficult to say whether we will resume the educational process from January 11, because the city is not far from the front line. Now, even Western Ukraine, the north of Mykolaiv Oblast, is studying online. If the ballistic missile flies from Crimea or the left bank of Kherson, it can reach them within 32 minutes, and it can reach us within 2-5 minutes. But if there is permission for us to study in January-February, then, in principle, a number of institutions are already ready today and we will be able to start offline education in the districts, — said Anatolii Petrov.
We remind you that the outflow of students was recorded in the schools of Mykolaiv this year. Compared to the last academic year , the number of schoolchildren decreased by 3,300. Vitalii Kim, the head of Mykolaiv RMA, explained that the city's schools work online because they are still targets for the Russian army.
As you know, 1,177 internally displaced persons study in Mykolaiv. 400 children from the temporarily occupied territories also study in remote classes. At the same time, as of the beginning of the academic year, about 27% of Mykolaiv schools' students were abroad.
Previously, the head of Mykolayiv RMA Vitaly Kim believes that in the academic year 2023/2024, most schools will work online due to the increase in the intensity of shelling.
It is worth noting that earlier in response to the information request of NikVesti regarding the criteria that educational institutions of Mykolaiv must meet in order to resume full-time work in the 2023-2024 academic year, the city's education department reported: schools will work in accordance with the recommendations of the State Emergency Service and the Sanitary Regulations approved by the Ministry Health Care. The first is the availability of shelter, and the second is drinking water at school.
It was also reported that starting in September 2023, about 13 schools are planned to be opened for offline education in Mykolaiv. In some educational institutions, parents will be able to choose whether to send their children to study or stay online at home. However, later it became known that the schools will remain closed for visits, as Mykolaiv is still in the zone of ballistic damage.
According to the monitoring of the Department of Education of the Mykolaiv City Council, 65% of schoolchildren want to study full-time.
For the beginning of the academic year, the Department of Education of the City Council announces tenders for placement in shelter schools in an offline format. Yes, the shelter in school No.23 will be repaired for 2.2 million hryvnias, and in Lyceum No.58 for 2.6 million hryvnias.
At the same time, the publication «Ukrainian Pravda» together with the savED fund, as part of the «To school again» campaign, announced a fundraiser for the construction of a shelter for the Mykolaiv Lyceum No.55, which in the new academic year should become a key school in the city district.
