Deputy of the Mykolaiv City Council, Serhii Kantor, stated that the citizens ignore the air warning signals, including when they are on Soborna Square. He suggested that the city hall include a recording asking them to vacate the square during the siren.
This was discussed on Tuesday, November 28, during the session of the Mykolaiv City Council, writes NikVesti.
Deputy Serhii Kantor emphasized that during such alarms, people mostly do not pay due attention to notifications, which can lead to danger. The deputy called on law enforcement agencies to take this problem into account and, if necessary, call on people to vacate the city center and go to shelters during alarms.
— I often visit Soborna Square and noticed that when the air alarms sound, people there do not pay attention to the notification. I ask law enforcement agencies to pay attention to this. When the alarm sounds in the city, then the square must be cleared of people, because during the alarm they treat it carelessly, God forbid, there may be trouble. We have a watch in the city council, so if there is an air raid signal, we can put on a recording asking them to vacate the square. I believe that when the alarm sounds, it is necessary to work out this issue in crowded cities, said Serhii Kantor.
In response to this appeal, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that many local residents are already used to the absence of threats and the need for shelter.
— In fact, people have relaxed here, we haven't been bombed for a long time, people are already used to it. And in general, it is human nature to get used to everything, and even bad things. Of course, we, as the city government, and the police cannot force them to do this, but only inform them. But I am asking the police officers, if they are in places where there is a crowd of people, to inform them that it is better for them to go to the shelters, emphasized the mayor.
We remind you that Mykolayivska Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych appealed to the citizens not to ignore the air warning signals.
