In Mykolaiv, for the second year in a row, there will not be a place for swimming for Vodokhreshcha.
This was said by the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych during his press conference on the results of 2023, NikVesti reports.
In previous years, Mykolaiv designated places on open water bodies for diving, where medics, law enforcement officers and rescuers were on duty. However, starting in 2023, the city authorities refused to organize traditional bathing in the water on church holidays during martial law.
«Last year, there were no official swimming spots on Vodokhreshcha. It was forbidden, but you know people. I think that this year it will also be prohibited to do so,» Oleksandr Sienkevych informed.
It will be recalled that in 2023, religious communities did not apply to the city authorities regarding the holding of mass public events, in particular, a cross procession on the occasion of the Epiphany celebration. However, those who were on duty at the OCU, instead of diving into the pit, bathed in barrels near the entrance to the church.
