The European Union will be able to transfer only about 600,000 ammunition to Ukraine by March instead of the promised 1 million ammunition.
According to Bloomberg, this is due to production delays and inventory issues.
«Defense ministers meeting this week in Brussels may try to count other deliveries to increase the total, but will still fall short of the 1 million target set last year,» the newspaper quoted diplomats as saying.
Rand Corp researcher and US Army Reserve officer Ann Marie Daley says: «If Ukrainian forces don't have the shells to keep up the pressure, Russia could continue to fire artillery while their infantry attack Ukrainian positions.»
It will be recalled that in the summer of 2023, the USA reported that they were running out of their own ammunition stocks against the background of providing military aid to Ukraine.
In December 2023, it was reported that the USA had already invested tens of billions of dollars in its own defense industry to produce the most important weapons for Ukraine.
