Russia continues to strengthen the defense of the Crimean bridge by deploying air defense systems there. In addition, the occupiers are building a new structure at the crossing, the purpose of which is still unknown.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesman of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, announced this on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the Russians are actively strengthening the defense of Crimea, trying to preserve it as a springboard for launching missiles and a military base. They also seek to use Crimea as a logistics center to supply their forces in the south.

«Earlier, the key role in this was played by the ferry, and now the Crimean Bridge, because the ferries are not working. And despite the fact that the bridge does not pull out these logistics, the Russians still try to protect it as much as possible for obvious reasons. Because it is a symbol, and besides, we should not forget that the Crimean bridge is an energy branch for the supply of Crimea, not to mention the supply of everyday goods and fuel,» said Dmytro Pletenchuk.

Regarding the construction of a new structure at the Kerch crossing, Pletenchuk called it another obstacle that can protect against possible drone attacks or be used as a parallel crossing. However, due to the storm season, its completion may be delayed.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian defenders have a plan to return Crimea occupied by Russia and destroy the illegal Kerch bridge, but the implementation of this plan turns out to be more difficult than expected.
