In Ukraine, since the beginning of 2024, explosives technicians have surveyed and demined 224 thousand hectares of agricultural land.

This was reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, according to the article on the Government Portal.

«By clearing land of mines and explosives, our sappers bring life back to de-occupied and front-line territories. People get the opportunity to work on their land, and regions get the opportunity to develop. Therefore, we systematically speed up the pace of work. We will help increase the number of demining machines and sappers, as well as the number of mine action operators. Now there are already 53 of them in Ukraine — almost twice as many as at the beginning of the year,» Yuliia Svyrydenko said.

In August, 23 and 4 thousand hectares were returned to Ukrainian farmers. Mykolaiv Oblast entered the top three oblasts in terms of demining rates, the first and second places were taken by Kherson and Kharkiv Oblasts:

  • Kharkiv region: 2.4 thousand hectares in August, 17.5 thousand hectares — since the beginning of the year;
