In Kherson, instead of the planned four underground schools, only two will be built. Such a decision was made due to the fact that the townspeople began to protest against the construction, fearing artillery fire.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, told the local publication Most about this.

It is noted that people are afraid that the active construction will once again attract the attention of the Russians, who are shelling the construction sites and the surrounding houses. In the city, residents protested near a potential construction site in Tavriiskyi microdistrict, where a construction site is being prepared.

«Two weeks ago, we gathered everyone, Roman (Mrochko, — note), the military, contractors, all other interested persons, sat down and decided that, first of all, in the two schools where construction has already begun, the amount of equipment is decreasing, that is, a maximum of one or two units can be on the territory at the same time. So that there is no show-off, accumulation of equipment. It was also agreed that the contractor will coordinate with the local residents the routes along which the equipment will travel,» he said.

According to Oleksandr Prokudin, on the other two sites, where construction was about to begin, work will be suspended until a more favorable security situation occurs.

We will remind, in April 2024 it became known that an underground school for 500 students will be built in Kherson.

It was also reported that almost 209.9 million hryvnias will be spent in the Kherson region on the reconstruction of a support school in the village of Arkhanhelske, damaged as a result of hostilities.
