More than 2,000 hectares of agricultural land were demined in Mykolaiv region in October

In Mykolayiv region in October, farmers received another 2.4 thousand hectares of agricultural land for use, which were cleared of mines and explosives. Since the beginning of the year, 16,500 hectares have been surveyed and demined in the region.

This was reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko.

She noted that over 24,000 hectares of land were cleared of explosives in Ukraine over the past month. Since the beginning of the year, state services have cleared more than 289,000 hectares of land. Of these, more than 255,000 hectares have already been transferred to farmers for exploitation.

«Demining of agricultural land remains one of the key priorities of the Government. After all, every hectare cleared of mines and handed over to farmers is work for the people who live in these territories, it is a contribution to the economic development of the region and the country, it is the restoration of the export potential of the state. Together with our partners, we continue to work on strengthening the capabilities of operators and creating conditions for accelerating the cleaning of the country's territory,» she said.

It is reported that 19,600 hectares were cleared in Kherson region in October, and 230,400 hectares since the beginning of the year.

In October, 66 mechanical demining machines and 789 pyrotechnic groups — more than 4,000 specialists — were involved in humanitarian demining and operational response.

It was previously reported that as of October 21, pyrotechnics destroyed 26,724 munitions in the Mykolaiv region.
