On Friday, November 22, the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada was canceled due to a potential threat of shelling of the government quarter.
This is reported by Suspilne with reference to the statements of deputies of various factions.
«The threat of a missile attack has increased. Therefore, not only was a decision made to cancel the meeting, but all Council services and committee secretariats are also closed today. Just as the number of people in the Cabinet of Ministers, OPU and other state bodies in that area has been minimized,» People's Deputy from «Servant of the People» Nikita Poturaev told reporters.
People's deputies also reported that local residents and those with offices in the government quarter were also warned about the danger. At the same time, the President's Office is working as usual with security measures in place.
Yaroslav Zhelezniak, People's Deputy from «Golos» also said that the meeting was canceled due to the availability of information about the possibility of shelling.
«This does not mean that they will be, there is just such a warning, and since nothing important was planned for Friday, it was postponed to the next plenary week. Although some consider the Council to be the decision-making center,» he said.
It will be recalled that on the morning of November 20, the US Embassy in Ukraine announced that it had "specific» information about a possible massive shelling that could take place today. In this connection, the diplomatic institution will be temporarily closed.
By the end of the day, the embassies of Spain, Italy and Greece were also closed.
In addition, throughout the day, Telegram channels spread information about the possibility of an intercontinental ballistic missile attack on Ukraine. However, the authorities assure that such a threat exists every day.
Later, the MDI stated that Russia was spreading fake messages about the threat of a missile attack on Ukraine. In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the security warnings of the embassies in Kyiv «informational propaganda».
