In the period from July 2023 to July 2024, 1,137 toponyms were renamed in settlements of the Mykolaiv region. In addition, 9 monuments with Russian imperial and Soviet symbols were dismantled.
The Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance provides the data, NikVesti writes.
In the analysis, it is noted that a total of 25,194 toponymic objects were renamed and 1,066 monuments and memorial signs were dismantled in Ukraine during the year.
The leaders among the regions are the Dnipropetrovsk region — 3,331 toponyms were changed there, the Donetsk region — 2,905, and the Khmelnytskyi region — 2,366.
The most dismantled monuments were recorded in Kyiv and Lviv — 124 and 114, respectively.
Note that these statistics also include the final renaming of streets in Mykolaiv itself, the order of which was made public on July 26. The RMA finally approved new names for 411 streets and alleys.
