The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that Russia has spent 200 billion dollars since the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

He said this during a speech at the Ronald Reagan National Security Forum in California, the US Department of Defense writes.

According to him, Russia's losses in the first year of the full-scale war in Ukraine became unprecedented, exceeding the total costs of all conflicts since World War II.

He noted that Russia has lost at least 700,000 soldiers killed and wounded since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. And the Kremlin's military expenditures have already exceeded 200 billion dollars.

Lloyd Austin called the numbers «a staggering price» that Russia is paying for its aggression.

The head of the Pentagon emphasized the importance of opposing the Kremlin and supporting Ukraine. He noted the successes of the Ramstein international contact group, which provided Ukraine with more than $57 billion in direct security assistance.

«Together we helped Ukraine withstand a full-scale attack by the largest army in Europe,» Lloyd Austin emphasized.

He also noted that the United States and its allies avoided a nuclear confrontation with Russia, strengthened NATO's eastern flank, and the Alliance member countries increased annual defense spending by nearly $80 billion.

Previously, Forbes Ukraine wrote that Russia spends about 300 million dollars a day on the war with Ukraine.
