The majority of Ukrainians support the right of citizens who have moved abroad to participate in the electoral process in Ukraine, considering them citizens of the country.

This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda with reference to the SOCIS sociological centre.

According to the study, when asked «Do Ukrainians who have moved abroad have the same right to determine the government in Ukraine as citizens who have stayed in the country?» 67% of respondents said they agreed, because those who have left remain citizens of Ukraine.

At the same time, 28.2% said no, because people who left the country have no right to influence the election of the authorities in Ukraine.

The survey was conducted on 5-11 December among a representative sample across the country, excluding the occupied territories, by telephone interview. A total of 2,000 respondents were interviewed, with a margin of error of no more than 2.6%.

As a reminder, Ukraine is studying European models of electoral legislation, as well as electronic voting. It may be introduced in the country after the war with Russia is over.

It was also reported that amid discussions of possible elections in Ukraine, political forces are actively preparing for the campaign. In particular, the presidential party «Servant of the People» is thinking about rebranding.
