An FSS agent network was neutralised in Kyiv and Kharkiv region. According to law enforcement, the suspects were spying on the locations of the Defence Forces and adjusting air strikes by Russian troops.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office and the SSU.
According to the case file, the official was recruited in 2015 in Moscow during a personal meeting with a Russian intelligence officer. His identity has already been established by SSU cyber specialists, the report said.
The recruited agent was put on «standby» and «was deactivated» after the start of a full-scale war through a message in a messenger.
The man was instructed to create an agent network. The task of this group was to collect information about the locations and routes of movement of Ukrainian troops and their cargo, as well as to target them with Russian missile and drone attacks.
A Kharkiv resident who left the military unit after being mobilised and had previously worked for Ukrzaliznytsia and as an international road transport driver for 10 years was also involved in working for the Russians. The task of the Kharkiv resident was to track the movement of military echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the driver was to leak the coordinates of checkpoints and units of the Defence Forces under the guise of business trips.
In addition, it was established that the suspect's brother and mother were involved in the activities of the agent group.
«According to the investigation, the resident personally directed missile strikes on Kyiv, which is confirmed by his intercepted conversations», the statement said.
SSU officers detained one suspect in Kyiv. At the same time, another suspect was detained in Kharkiv.
During the searches, mobile phones with evidence of work for Russia were seized from the suspects. They also found firearms, which were sent for examination.
The SSU investigators served the two detainees and two relatives of the head of the hostile cell suspicion notices of committing crimes under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Article 28 (2), Article 111 (high treason committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law); Article 436-2 (parts 1, 3) (justification, recognition of the lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
As a reminder, a 26-year-old local resident was detained in Odesa region on suspicion of collaborating with Russian special services and adjusting missile and drone strikes on military targets.
