The Basic Combined Arms Training (BCAT) will become mandatory for all students of Ukrainian universities. Those who fail the exam will not be able to continue their studies.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.

«I want to emphasise that it [the BCAT] is mandatory for everyone, and if students cannot pass the exam or pass it with a failing grade, if they refuse to take the military oath, they will not be able to study at higher education institutions in the future,» the deputy minister said.

Serhii Melnyk noted that the course itself includes a lot of disciplines from military training. For example, psychological, reconnaissance, tactical and firearms training.

As a reminder, students of Ukrainian higher education institutions will be undergoing basic military training starting in September . It will include 90 hours of theory and 210 hours of practical training in the centres of the Armed Forces.
