The situation on the border in the Sumy region is tense. Russian subversive groups have become more active along the entire length of the contact line. Currently, mandatory evacuation has been announced from 8 settlements.

This was reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Volodymyr Artiukh.

According to him, during a meeting of the Sumy region Defence Council on 13 March, a decision was made to carry out a mandatory evacuation of the population from 8 settlements of the Yunakivska and Myropilska communities of Sumy district. This was due to the escalation of the operational situation in the region, constant shelling by Russia and in order to save the lives of the civilian population of the region.

«According to our military, the situation at the border is tense but under control. The Russian army units have not crossed the border and have not captured any settlements on the territory of Sumy region», he said.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration called on the residents of Sumy region to evacuate to save their lives and help the military work effectively.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, held talks with Russian officials in Moscow. After his visit, he is returning to the US to discuss the results of his meeting with Donald Trump.

Steve Witkoff's trip followed a meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and US Secretary of State Mark Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Volz in Saudi Arabia. During the talks, Kyiv supported the idea of a temporary ceasefire.

US President Donald Trump said that a «semi-ceasefire had been reached in the war between Russia and Ukraine», and it was now important that Moscow agreed to it. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the 30-day ceasefire would only work if the Kremlin agrees.
