The operation of trams and trolleybuses in the city is currently being kept afloat by people working at the limits of their capabilities.
This was announced by the head of Mykolaivelektrotrans, Yurii Smetana, explaining the disruptions to electric transport in the city.
He notes that due to hourly and emergency power outages, the power system is unstable, power supply modes are constantly changing, and there is critically little time with electricity. According to Yurii Smetana, it is very difficult to organise the stable operation of electric transport in such conditions.
The situation is further complicated by difficult weather conditions: precipitation, ice, fog, and sharp temperature changes.
«All of this directly affects the contact network, traction substations, and rolling stock. Many decisions have to be made not 'by the book', but based on the actual technical situation here and now,» explains Yurii Smetana.
The head of Mykolaivelektrotrans emphasises that, in fact, a significant part of the work today rests on the shoulders of the municipal enterprise's employees.
«Drivers, dispatchers, power engineers, and repair crews are doing, without exaggeration, unreal things. Frankly speaking, electric transport in the city is now literally held 'in the hands' of people who are working at the limit of their capabilities,» says Yurii Smetana.
He emphasises that in such difficult conditions, disruptions and deviations in the operation of trams and trolleybuses are possible.
«This is not a question of desire or negligence — it is a consequence of external circumstances over which we have no control,» concluded the head of Mykolaivelektrotrans.
He also thanked passengers for their understanding and patience during this difficult time.
Earlier, NikVesti reported that the Mykolaiv Executive Committee had approved changes to trolleybus routes №10 and №11.
