In Voznesensk, 1.5 million hryvnias were allocated from the city budget to purchase apartments for internally displaced persons. After the purchase, the housing will be renovated with funds from donors.
This was announced during a session of the Voznesensk City Council, according to NikVesti.
According to Mayor Yevhenii Velychko, the city is cooperating with the charity organisation Caritas, which is ready to finance the renovation of the purchased flats.
«We are currently allocating 1.5 million hryvnias. There is an organisation called Caritas. Last year, Voznesensk had a quota for eight flats, but we did not use it in full. This year, we have again been given a quota for eight flats,» the mayor explained.
The city authorities plan to use these funds to purchase three apartments in poor condition. According to the mayor, Caritas charity workers will be able to renovate them.
«We plan to use these funds to purchase three flats, and Caritas will be able to renovate them for up to 29,500 hryvnias. They have already renovated flats on Barvinkova and Myrna streets. The repairs have already been completed. And at this executive committee meeting, we will vote on the allocation of these properties. They were completely without heating, without anything, just empty shells. We now need to take these empty shells and Caritas will carry out the repairs for us. But the purpose must be for IDPs,» added Yevhenii Velychko.
It is expected that the decision to transfer the renovated flats for IDP accommodation will be made at one of the upcoming meetings of the executive committee.
It should be noted that there are 65 modular houses for internally displaced persons in the Mykolaiv region.
There are also plans to expand the microdistrict for internally displaced persons in Domanivka, Mykolaiv region, and build six more modular houses. Currently, housing for displaced persons in the community has already been partially built, but there is still a waiting list for settlement.
It should be noted that on 1 December, Ukraine began accepting applications for participation in the housing voucher programme for internally displaced persons from temporarily occupied territories. Currently, more than ten thousand applications have been submitted, 426 of which are in the Mykolaiv region.
