The flooding in the settlements of Pervomaisk and Voznesensk districts, which occurred after the bad weather, is not currently classified as an emergency. Regional authorities assure that the situation is under control.

This was announced on 25 February during a briefing by Olena Horbachova, head of the civil protection department of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration's civil protection department, according to NikVesti.

In February, due to a sharp warming, snowmelt and heavy rains, houses and streets in the region were flooded. At that time, emergency services received 23 reports of flooding in 49 residential buildings in 17 settlements.

According to Olena Horbachova, there has not been a similar situation in the region for many years. She noted that this year there was a drought, not counting the consequences of the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, when 31 settlements in the region were flooded due to a man-made disaster.

The official says that the water level in the Southern Bug River is currently rising, but there are no grounds for declaring a state of emergency.

«We are currently observing a rise in the water level in the Southern Bug River. At present, this situation is not an emergency and is not classified as such. It is under control: the regional water resources office, together with the hydrometeorological service and the regional military administration, are constantly monitoring water levels. There are questions regarding the regulation of the Oleksandrivske Reservoir, as there is more water there than usual. It comes in a cascade from the Vinnytsia region and continues to arrive,» explained Olena Horbachova.

She added that a sudden release of large volumes of water could cause additional damage to infrastructure in settlements downstream, so decisions are being made carefully.

«In Vinnytsia, water discharge has been completely restricted at this time. At the same time, the volume of discharge from the reservoir itself is being increased in a controlled manner. The groundwater level is also rising, but the situation is under control. In settlements where there are difficulties with movement, transport for people and delivery of all necessary items has been organised. The State Emergency Service is constantly monitoring the situation and ensuring the transport of people and delivery of necessary goods,» she said.

Flooding in Mykolaiv region

In the Mykolaiv region, traffic has been blocked on certain sections of roads due to flooding and bad weather.

According to the Voznesensk City Council, due to the rise in the water level in the Mertvovod River, public transport has been restricted on the temporary crossing.

In addition, traffic has been blocked for a long time on the temporary crossing near the village of Oleksandrivka in the direction of Domanivka. The Buzke village council warned that due to flooding, it is currently impossible for transport to travel on this section of the road.

Residents are asked to take these restrictions into account when planning their routes and to follow official announcements regarding the resumption of traffic.

Later, in the Kazanka community, access to the village of Shevchenkove was restored, which had been complicated by flooding and erosion of the temporary bypass road near the bridge over the Vysun River.
