Repairs to the tram tracks on 6 Slobidska Street in Mykolaiv are expected to be completed in two months

Repairs to the tram tracks along 6 Slobidska Street in Mykolaiv are promised to be completed by the end of April 2026.

This was announced by Yurii Smetana, director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaivelektrotrans, during an open staff meeting on 2 March, according to NikVesti.

«We are continuing the work and transporting gravel. We expect to finish our rail and sleeper grid there in approximately 1.5-2 months,» he said.

Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych added that after the completion of this work, the road will be paved and tiles will be laid. Upon completion, this section of the street will have two-way traffic, the mayor reminded.

«We plan to make 6 Slobidska Street two-way on the section from Stoliarna Street to Tsentralnyi Avenue. That is, at the moment, the rail-sleeper grid will be changed, and then the work will continue,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

We would like to remind you that more than 24 million hryvnias are planned to be spent on the major repair of the road along 6 Slobidska Street from Tsentralnyi Avenue to 1 Voienna Street. After the work is completed, traffic on this section will become two-way.

Road repairs in Mykolaiv

After the winter frosts, deep potholes appeared on the roads due to the effects of freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing reagents that were poured onto the asphalt surface. Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych said that there are currently no funds in the budget for routine and major road repairs. He noted that the budget has only 20 million hryvnias exclusively for patching roads for the entire year. However, he compared the roads in Mykolaiv with the condition of roads in Kyiv, adding that their condition after winter is the worst.

At the end of February, Vitalii Shevchenko, director of the municipal enterprise ELU Avtodorig, told NikVesti that there would be no large-scale patching of potholes on the roads of Mykolaiv for about another month due to unstable weather conditions and the wetness of the road base.

Instead, in early March, municipal workers began patching potholes on Tsentralnyi Avenue.

Later, it became known that 14 million hryvnias would be allocated from the Mykolaiv budget for emergency and pothole repairs on the roads.
