650,000 hryvnias have been allocated to complete the renovation of the operating theatre block in the surgical department of the Voznesensk Multidisciplinary Hospital. Of this amount, 250,000 hryvnias comes from the Voznesensk city budget.
This decision was taken at the 92nd extraordinary session of the Voznesensk City Council on 25 March, according to NikVesti.
Valentyna Mosklenko, head of the financial department of the Voznesensk City Council, reported that there is a need to complete the renovation of the operating theatre block in the hospital’s surgical wing.
«The total cost, according to the design and cost estimate documentation that has passed expert review, amounts to 26 million hryvnias. Of this, work worth 19 million hryvnias has been completed. The remaining amount is 6.5 million hryvnias, of which 2.4 million hryvnias is for construction work, and the rest is for equipment and expenses,» noted Valentyna Moskalenko.
At the session, councillors were asked to allocate 250,000 hryvnias from the Voznesensk city budget. A grant of 400,000 hryvnias is to be provided from the budget of the Veselynivka settlement council. As the hospital is a regional facility, it also treats patients from surrounding communities. Consequently, grants are expected from their budgets
«Today we are allocating 250,000 hryvnias in additional funds for the major renovation of our hospital. Veselynivka (Veselynivka Settlement Council — note) has included a grant of 400,000 hryvnias to our budget in its own budget. In total, the hospital now has 650,000 hryvnias following our decision today. And this enables the hospital to announce a tender, to commence some form of work in accordance with the remaining funds, and to address the work that has not yet been completed. We shall see what happens next. We are hoping for decisions from other local authorities, because the operation of the operating theatre, the maternity ward and all the other departments, I believe, is in the interests of both us and everyone else,» reported Valentyna Moskalenko.
She added that they are proposing to allocate funds through budget reallocation, as there is no other option.
«We have reviewed our budget. And since this concerns social protection, we propose reducing expenditure on financial assistance to the city’s residents. We have managed to set higher limits — planned allocations — in the budget compared to 2025. And this allows us to make the following reallocation: 250,000 hryvnias less for financial assistance, and more for the major refurbishment of the surgical ward’s operating theatre,» added the head of the finance department.
Mayor Yevhen Velychko also informed councillors that as the department will be closed for quarantine, construction work there will not cause any disruption.
«Our main priority is to carry out 2.4 million hryvnias’ worth of construction work, as this includes ventilation — which is the most essential part — and which still needs to undergo licensing,» said the mayor of Voznesensk.
Councillors asked whether other local authorities would allocate funds, and ultimately voted 23 in favour of allocating funds for the renovation of the operating theatre in the hospital’s surgical block.
As a reminder, the surgical ward at the hospital in Voznesensk will be temporarily closed for renovation. Work will be carried out there to modernise the ventilation system and upgrade the water supply and drainage systems.
The department is expected to be closed for 2–3 weeks. Patients will be redirected to Pivdennoukrainsk.
