The mayor, Oleksandr Sienkevych, spoke about this during an open staff meeting on 6 April, according to NikVesti.
According to him, there were three shelling incidents in the city in March — on 6, 16 and 28 March.
- 6 March — 61 flats, four private houses and four non-residential buildings were damaged;
- 16 March — 18 flats, seven private houses and Gymnasium No. 26 were damaged.
«It must be said that our services followed standard protocol, meaning that district administrations were dispatched to the scene. Together with the emergency services, they surveyed the area, set up tents, informed residents, provided advice and helped organise repairs to the damaged buildings. In particular, the municipal enterprise «ELU Avtodorig», the municipal enterprise «Pilot», the mine rescue unit and the municipal enterprise GDMB were involved,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.
He added that information on the damage had been forwarded to the State Construction Control Department. Staff from the State Construction Control Department are also documenting the consequences. According to him, this work is being carried out swiftly, and they are receiving positive feedback on the cooperation on the ground. Furthermore, the information has been sent to humanitarian organisations.
It should be noted that, despite the fact that shelling of Mykolaiv has decreased compared to the start of the war, the number of damages has increased. In March alone, 110 damaged sites were surveyed in the city.
As a reminder, on 12 March, Mykolaiv was attacked by drones. A transport infrastructure facility was targeted. Furthermore, two private houses and the roof of an educational establishment were damaged. Also, on 16 March, windows in an educational establishment and a high-rise building were damaged as a result of overnight shelling .

How do you apply for the «VidnovyDim» programme?
The Vidnovy Dim programme helps to restore apartment blocks following shelling, covering the costs of work on the façade, roof, windows and doors, floor slabs, building services and emergency repairs. To receive funding, the owners’ association must correctly prepare the documents and provide photographic evidence of the damage.
Steps for submitting an application:
-
Check the structural condition of the building. The main load-bearing elements must be repaired or at least have repair plans drawn up, and the relevant documentation must be attached to the application.
-
Take detailed photographs and videos of the damage. The photos must show all defects in the façade, roof and other shared elements from various angles, both close-up and from a distance. Insufficient or incorrect documentation is the most common reason for applications being rejected.
-
Prepare a complete set of documents. This should include:
- a report on the commission’s inspection of the building,
- an extract from the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property (RDDP),
- contracts with contractors, where the numbers and amounts match those in the application.
4. Submit your application via the Energy Efficiency Fund. Once the documents have been accepted, the fund pays a 60% advance, with the remainder paid after the work has been inspected. On average, the review process takes 1–1.5 months.
