Members of the Mykolaiv Regional Council have approved the transfer of Maternity Hospital №3 into regional ownership.
The decision was backed during a session of the Mykolaiv Regional Council on Thursday, 16 April, reports NikVesti.
It should be recalled that on 9 April, at a session of the Mykolaiv City Council, councillors approved the transfer of this maternity hospital to the region’s ownership. The facility is planned to be merged with the Regional Clinical Hospital, which is located nearby.
Anton Tabunschyk, Chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, noted that the issue of the transfer has been under discussion since 2023 and today’s decision is decisive.
«With a view to the further development of our medical facilities, in particular the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital, it is proposed that this matter be supported,» remarked the chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional Council.
The decision was supported by 44 councillors, with 1 abstaining.
It should be recalled that deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council supported the decision to reorganise the city’s healthcare network, which involves the creation of a cluster hospital and the transfer of one of the maternity hospitals to the ownership of the region.
Earlier, members of the Mykolaiv City Council’s health committee supported the reorganisation of the city’s hospitals. Also, Mykolaiv City Council member Olena Kiseliova reported that the reorganisation of Mykolaiv’s hospitals by merging them into a single structure would not lead to hospital closures or staff cuts, but is merely a change in legal form to secure additional funding from the National Health Service of Ukraine.
