Trolleybus services to the Pivnichnyi mictodistrict in Mykolaiv cannot continue after 10 pm due to the curfew and passenger flow patterns.

This was announced during a live broadcast by Yurii Smetana, director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaivelektrotrans, according to NikVesti.

According to him, public transport drivers must manage to return home before the start of the curfew, which is in force in the city from midnight.

«At the moment, this is not possible. We have a curfew from 12 o’clock. Trolleybus drivers also need to get home in time for the curfew. And secondly, and most importantly, this issue also affects other routes. We monitor our passenger numbers every day: we see the trends, how many people are travelling and at what times,» he explained.

Yurii Smetana added that the company is currently unable to reallocate transport, in particular to reduce the number of services in the morning in order to extend the operating hours of routes in the evening.

«At the moment, we are unable, for example, to reduce transport in the morning to extend it until 11 pm,» he noted.

As a reminder, fares across all public transport in Mykolaiv have increased by an average of 33%. The new fares will apply on minibuses and buses from 27 April, and on electric transport from 4 May.

At the same time, a new ticket will be introduced on Mykolaiv’s electric transport from 4 May — the so-called «inspector’s ticket» for those who have not paid their fare. It will cost 300 hryvnias. If passengers refuse to pay, the police will be called.
