The ‘Zoo’ tram stop in Mykolaiv has been refurbished following a complaint from a local resident. Screenshot from the videoIn Mykolaiv, the «Zoo» tram stop has been refurbished following complaints from residents about its inconvenience to passengers.
This is evidenced by reports to the «Contact Centre» at Mykolaiv City Council.
Local resident Tetiana Krasova drew attention to the problem following repairs to the pavement near the «Zoo» tram stop on Ihor Bedzai Street, in the direction of the «Kolos» market. According to her, after the new paving was laid, the level of the pavement rose, making the benches too low and uncomfortable, especially for elderly people.
«Thank you for the tiles. Now if only someone would think about how elderly people can sit on the sunken benches. It’s easy to sit down, but getting up is quite difficult,» she wrote.
The «Zoo» bus stop is recognisable in the city thanks to its unusual artistic design. The shelter is decorated with metal panels featuring stylised images of animals, echoing the nearby Mykolaiv Zoo.
Following a complaint in the comments, local residents called for the original design to be preserved and, in the event of dismantling, for the decorative elements to be moved to the zoo grounds.
However, the bus stop was not completely dismantled. It was refurbished, with some of the decorative metal panels moved to the other side of the shelter, and new, more comfortable benches were installed for passengers.

According to procurement data, the cost of repairs on the even-numbered side of the road is estimated at 430,000 hryvnias, and on the odd-numbered side at 436,000 hryvnias.
Also last year, the administration of the Central District of Mykolaiv set up a public transport stop at the corner of Kotelna Street and 3rd Line.
In 2024, a bus stop complex was built in the Matviivka neighbourhood — tiles were laid and bollards were installed. 234,550 hryvnias were spent on this from the Mykolaiv budget.
