SOCAR has stated that staff were taking shelter during the Russian attack on the petrol station complex in the village of Nechaiane in the Mykolaiv region.
SOCAR reported this on its Facebook page.
«Another attack has been carried out on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. Three Shahed-type attack drones struck our facility in the Mykolaiv region, in the village of Nechaiane, at 2a Odeska Street. The attack damaged the petrol station building,» the company said.
They explained that three Shahed-type attack drones struck the petrol station, but no one was injured as people were in a shelter during the air raid alert.
«Thanks to preventive safety measures, strict adherence to air-raid instructions and the presence of a protective structure, we managed to avoid the worst — at the time of the strike, everyone was in shelter, so there were no casualties,» SOCAR reported.
SOCAR emphasised that the network has fitted out shelters at its petrol stations, notably in the village of Nechaiane and in Mykolaiv on Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue.
«The timely move into a shelter during the attack in Nechaiane has once again demonstrated the vital importance of this initiative. All locations equipped with verified shelters are specially marked in the SOCAR mobile app. This allows you to quickly and conveniently adjust your route, taking safety factors into account. The doors to our shelters are open round the clock to anyone who needs protection during an air raid alert,» the company said.
As a reminder, over the past 24 hours and on the morning of 6 July, Russian forces attacked the Mykolaiv region with strike drones and FPV drones. Six people were injured, and in several communities, petrol stations, a residential building, cars and a power line were damaged. Four people were injured.
Prior to this, on 2 July in the Mykolaiv district, a Russian Shahed drone struck a petrol station in the Kostiantynivka community. A 45-year-old man was killed in the attack. Two other men, aged 33 and 44, were injured. One of them was hospitalised in a serious but stable condition, the other in a moderately serious condition. The strike completely destroyed the petrol station building and three cars.
Following this, Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, announced that a special chat group would be set up in the region for petrol station owners. Through this group, they will be promptly informed of any threat of attacks by Russian drones.
