NikVesti reports on this.
Residents continue to complain about the prolonged sounding of the siren and report that in some parts of the city it has not stopped since this morning.
Earlier, Heorhii Reshetilov, acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported that there had been a malfunction in the software controlling the air raid warning signals in the city.
«The causes of the malfunction are being investigated. The specialists responsible for the system are working to rectify the faults in order to ensure the alert system is functioning correctly as soon as possible,» he wrote.
According to him, the malfunction occurred at 07:35. However, as of 10:00, the situation in certain areas of the city had not changed — the siren is still sounding continuously.
Residents are reporting that the sirens have been sounding continuously in various parts of Mykolaiv, particularly in the Inhulskyi and Korabelnyi districts.
«The siren has been wailing for two hours now on Popel and Okeanivska Streets. It’s enough to drive you mad,» write Mykolaiv residents.
In addition, residents are sending video complaints to the Contact Centre at Mykolaiv City Council.
One such video was sent from 18 Budivelnykiv Street. In the video, the air-raid siren can also be heard wailing continuously.
It should be noted that in Mykolaiv, it is still not possible to adjust the duration of the air-raid sirens in line with the new requirements of the Cabinet of Ministers. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine is responsible for configuring the warning system.
In September 2026, residents of Mykolaiv repeatedly complained about the prolonged and loud air-raid sirens. Following changes made by the Cabinet of Ministers to the alert procedure, the duration of the signal for a yellow alert level should be 30 seconds, and for a red alert level – one minute. The all-clear signal should be broadcast via a voice announcement without an audible alarm.
Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych had previously stated that the city authorities do not determine the times at which the alarm is raised or allayed, and cannot independently set the duration of the audible signal. According to him, the warning system in Mykolaiv needs to be technically reconfigured to meet the new requirements.
At the city council meeting, a mandate was also given to bring the warning signals into line with the new requirements. However, as of early October, residents were still reporting sirens sounding for longer than the stipulated 30 seconds or one minute.
