According to them, the windows have remained in this condition for around four years.
The residents reported this in the Facebook group «Contact Centre» of the Mykolaiv City Council.
The author of the post, Milla Shvets, noted that because the windows in the entrance halls are boarded up, there is no natural light. During power cuts, she said, it becomes completely dark inside.
«The windows in our entrance halls have been boarded up with chipboard. There is no natural light, and during power cuts the entrance halls are simply pitch black,» complains the author of the appeal.
Residents also approached the «Dobrobut» housing and communal services organisation, which manages their block, but were told there was no funding available for repairs.
«The «Dobrobut» has turned us down. There is no funding. But given how much public money is spent on landscaping and the like, we ask that you help our block,» the petition states.
In the comments on the post, another resident of the block confirmed that similar appeals had already been sent, yet the block still has no windows.
«We’ve already written such a request. Why has there been no result? It’s impossible to walk through the entrance halls; it’s pitch black. Winter is coming, and there’s a risk of injury,» the woman notes.
It was previously reported that residents of a block of flats at 2a Kurortna Street in Mykolaiv are asking for the windows in the entrance halls to be repaired, as they were damaged during an attack back in January 2025. The city council replied that there is currently no money in the budget for this work.
The city council explained that Mykolaiv’s current budget does not have the financial capacity to pay for the replacement of windows in communal areas. The damaged openings had previously been covered with OSB boards, and the building itself has been added to the list of properties requiring renovation.
