The total number of crimes in the Mykolayiv region decreased by 9%. There is another 12% decrease in serious and especially serious cases.

Such statistics were announced by the head of the Main Department of the National Police of the Mykolaiv region, Serhii Makhno, on the air of the telethon.

Serhii Makhno noted that, as of now, all cases relating to particularly serious crimes in the region have been solved.

«After analyzing some types of crimes, we see a significant decrease. For example, if we take the total percentage of crimes committed, this is a 9% decrease. If we take severe and especially severe cases, then by 12%. By type of crime, namely intentional murders, robberies, robberies, rapes, grievous bodily harm, illegal possession of vehicles, road accidents, thefts from citizens' homes, we also see a decrease. Moreover, all crimes of a particularly serious category on the territory of the Mykolaiv region today are solved,» he said.

At the same time, the number of frauds is increasing in the Mykolaiv region, although Serhii Makhno says that the percentage of detection of such crimes in 2024 has become much better. Also, according to statistics, there is an increase in crimes for illegal possession of firearms.

«Documenting this type of crime and the criminal activities of certain groups, we even see that some of the perpetrators are operating on the territory of our state, and these are those states, for example, Russia, Belarus, which are again trying to destabilize the criminogenic situation on the territory of both our region and and the entire state. It should also be mentioned about the known false reports about mining,» said Serhii Makhno.

In addition, cases of collaborative activity are currently decreasing in the city and region. In total, 164 criminal proceedings have been opened and suspicions have been announced against 107 persons since the beginning of the invasion.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office of the Mykolaiv region said that in 2023 the number of criminal offenses against the foundations of national security of Ukraine decreased.

We will remind you that in 2023, 120 people died as a result of traffic accidents on the territory of the Mykolayiv region.

It should be noted that the greatest increase in road accidents with victims for 2024 was recorded in the Kherson (+26%) and Mykolaiv (+23%) regions.
