Threw a grenade in the direction of vacationers on the beach: a resident of the Mykolaiv region was declared a suspect

In the Mykolaiv Oblast, law enforcement officers have declared a resident of the Bashtanska district a suspect, who threw a grenade in the direction of those vacationing on the beach.

The Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this.

According to law enforcement officials, none of the vacationers were injured as a result of the explosions.

«A resident of the Bashtan district, being in a state of alcohol intoxication, for reasons of clear disrespect for society, being at lunchtime on the beach on the Ingul River, where adults and children were resting, threw a grenade towards the river, where young people were swimming,» it says in the message.

At the place of detonation of the grenade, law enforcement officers found a tear and explosive fragments, which were sent for examination.

«A 52-year-old man was notified of suspicion of committing hooliganism with the use of a specially adapted object for inflicting bodily harm (Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was ordered to be remanded in custody for 2 months without bail,» the prosecutor's office said.

The suspect faces from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment for the crime.

We will remind you that a resident of the village of Pervomaiske, Mykolaiv district, will be tried on charges of attempted murder of two of his fellow villagers, as well as possession of ammunition without a permit. According to the investigation, in March 2024, the accused, being intoxicated, entered into a conflict with his fellow villager, after which he entered his house and threw a grenade.
