Assistant to the President of Russia Volodymyr Medynskyi and rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Anatolii Torkunov will appear before the court for distributing materials with calls to change the borders of the territory of Ukraine.
As reported in the Prosecutor General's Office, they are charged with justifying, recognizing as legitimate, denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and glorifying its participants.
According to the investigation, in 2023, on their behalf, by order of the President of the Russian Federation, a textbook on the history of Russia entitled «History. History of Russia. 1945 — the beginning of the 21st century. 11th grade». The textbook was distributed and used for teaching Ukrainian students of the 11th grade in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine — in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
According to law enforcement officers, the authors reflected in the textbook the idea of «correctness and expediency» of separating part of the territory from Ukraine and joining it to Russia. Its content is aimed at forming the students' conviction that the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, which began in 2014 and the temporary occupation of the territories, could not be avoided, as it was provoked by Ukraine.
It is noted that also in the training manual, its authors glorified and glorified the participants of the armed aggression and incited enmity between the residents of the self-proclaimed entities and the territory controlled by Ukraine.
We will remind that the Russians brought Russian propaganda textbooks to the occupied Mariupol. As noted in the city council, according to preliminary estimates, the Russians destroyed 180,000 books and 4 libraries in Mariupol. Instead, the surviving libraries and schools are filled with their own books to «brainwash» Ukrainian children.
