The Central District Court of Mykolaiv took into custody a 59-year-old resident of Kherson, suspected of working for the Russians during the temporary occupation of Kherson.

This was reported by the press service of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

According to the petition materials, during the period of temporary occupation, the suspect, for ideological and self-interested reasons, agreed to take the position of inspector in the law enforcement body illegally created by the occupation administration — «Northern Correctional Colony».

In his position, the latter supervised detained persons, ensured the regime in the colony, that is, contributed to the establishment and functioning of the system of execution of punishments of the aggressor country in the Kherson region, the report states.

At the court hearing, the defense attorney asked for a preventive measure not related to detention to be applied to his client. The suspect supported the position of his defender.

After examining the materials of the petition, investigating judge Volodymyr Lyashchenko concluded that the suspicion is well-founded, which is confirmed by the evidence in the materials and the existence of risks that cannot be prevented by applying a preventive measure not related to detention.

Therefore, he decided to apply to the suspect a preventive measure in the form of detention without determining the amount of bail.

Earlier, the Security Service detained two women from the Kherson region, suspected of organizing the illegal referendum of the Russian Federation, which took place during the occupation of the right-bank Kherson region. One of them was caught in Mykolaiv.
