Mykolaiv journalist Oleksandr Diordiev was seriously injured in the war zone. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was announced on March 20 by the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, of which he is a graduate.

Oleksandr Diordiev was seriously injured on March 6 and is currently in a serious condition in a military hospital.

«He needs long-term treatment, and in the future — prosthetics and rehabilitation,» says the university's publication.

On his Facebook page, he confirmed the information about his injury and thanked for the support.

«Thank you all for your support. Everything is fine, now the state of health is such that it is impossible to somehow influence the fees. When I reach the point where it will be possible to somehow influence health with money, I will consider it a victory. The first hours and days were helped by many friends and acquaintances who knew about the trouble almost immediately. Thank you,» Oleksandr Diordiev wrote.

In his peaceful life, he was engaged in economic journalism — he is the executive director of the information agency «Black Sea Business News» and the editor-in-chief of the publication «Maritime Business News of Ukraine».

Since 2014, he has been involved in volunteer activities, in particular, he took care of the «Soul of the South» eco-camping for rest and recovery of ATO/OS soldiers and their families on the island of Dzharylhach (Kherson region).

Earlier it was reported that during the previous day, March 20, the Russian army shelled the territory of the Sumy region. A total of 393 shots were recorded.
