As of the end of March 2024, 4,800 children have the status of a child affected by hostilities and armed conflicts.

This was stated by Iryna Ponomariova, Head of the Children's Service of the Mykolaiv Oblast, during a briefing on March 28.

According to her, 20 out of 4,800 children get this status due to injury, contusion or mutilation. Another four children were sexually abused, and 4,776 children have the effects of psychological abuse.

The head of the service specified that, in total, the relevant institutions of Mykolaiv Oblast received almost 6,000 applications with a request to grant the status of a child who suffered as a result of the war.

«The influx is very strong. Many applications are received by Children's Services. Due to the influx of people to Mykolaiv, more such statuses are granted there. Social work specialists do not have time to work with the family and the child in order to provide an appropriate conclusion. So there is some delay in granting these statuses,» said Iryna Ponomariova.

Most often, the status is granted to children who live in Mykolaiv, Voznesensk, Pervomaisk, Nova Odesa, Yuzhnoukrainsk, as well as in Buzke, Prybuzhany, Kobleve and Domanivka communities.

We will remind you how in Switzerland they presented a book with the story of a girl from the Mykolaiv region, who was injured by a fragment of a Russian projectile.
