Law enforcement officers exposed Zhytomyr businessmen for violating the norms of disposal of infectious hazardous medical waste.

This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General and the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the management of the enterprise, which has a license for the disposal of hazardous waste, organized an illegal scheme for the provision of services to increase profits.

During 2022-2023, the suspects concluded contracts with health care institutions in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Vinnytsia regions for the collection and disposal of infectiously dangerous medical waste, although they did not have the necessary capacities and storage facilities for their storage. Entrepreneurs looked for such premises and ensured the transportation of waste from medical institutions.

During the searches, law enforcement officers found waste on an area of more than 300 square meters, including droppers, syringes, catheters and other disposables. They were stored in violation of licensing requirements and waste legislation, which could lead to the spread of infectious diseases.

Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office, the director and three co-owners of the Zhytomyr private enterprise were informed of the suspicion. The extras were charged with violating sanitary rules and norms for the prevention of infectious diseases.

At present, the question of choosing preventive measures for the suspect is being resolved.
