The counterintelligence of the Security Service detained a Russian agent who is suspected of preparing a Russian air attack on Odesa. She faces life imprisonment.
This was reported in the SBU press service.
According to the investigation, in order to «bypass» the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense during the attack, the occupiers instructed their henchmen to identify the locations of anti-aircraft complexes in the territory of the regional center.
First of all, the aggressor was interested in the possible coordinates of anti-aircraft missile installations on the coastal territory of the city. In addition, the Russians tried to find out about the presence of military ships equipped with air defense equipment in local ports.
It is noted that the occupiers planned to take the received information into account during the preparation of new attacks on the city, in particular with the use of cruise missiles and kamikaze drones of the Shahed type.
Before the arrest, the law enforcement officers documented the actions of the agent in stages from the «first steps» of the intelligence activity. This made it possible to inform the Ukrainian military in advance about the new threat of airstrikes.
In the course of documenting the intelligence and subversive activities of the woman, the identity of her curator was established. He turned out to be the head of the reconnaissance group of the Russian military group stationed in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
«The aggressor remotely recruited a woman from Odessa to cooperate in January of this year as an ideological supporter of racism,» the service said.
SSU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The woman is in custody. She faces life imprisonment.
We will remind you that the law enforcement officers detained an employee of a local company who installed webcams near the Mykolaiv Seaport to spy on the ships of the Armed Forces. He faces life imprisonment.
A 30-year-old local resident was also detained in Mykolaiv, who was spying on the ships of the Armed Forces near the Mykolaiv seaport. The man faces up to 12 years in prison.
