A man from Mykolaiv was sentenced to 15 years in prison for directing Russian missiles at critical infrastructure facilities in Mykolaiv.
The court found the man guilty of treason, the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported.
According to law enforcement officers, a resident of Mykolaiv voluntarily agreed to cooperate with representatives of the Russian special services. His task was photo and video recording of locations of important critical infrastructure facilities on the territory of Mykolaiv.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region, the main targets of the Russians were the thermal power plant, which provides heating for almost half of the city's residential buildings and industrial enterprises.
In the future, the man transmitted this information to curators through closed communication channels to adjust missile strikes. He was detained in September 2022.
«The convict is a 74-year-old resident of Mykolaiv, an ideological supporter of the Kremlin regime, who was recruited remotely by the occupiers in the summer of 2022,» the SSU said in a statement.
It is noted that for cooperation with the Russian Federation, the man was promised a monetary «reward» and a loyal attitude of the Russians in the event of the capture of the region.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Earlier, a resident of the Mykolayiv region was sentenced to 11 years in prison, who collected information about the positions of the Armed Forces and HIMARS in order to adjust missile strikes by the enemy.
