A school that was fired upon by the Russians at the beginning of the invasion was dismantled: the parents of the students believe that it could have been rebuilt

In the village of Lyubomyrivka in the Mykolaiv region, a school was dismantled, which was fired upon by the Russian invaders at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

This is stated in the report Suspilne Mykolaiv.

The Russians attacked the school with a tank in March 2022. Then the gym of the institution was damaged.

«The first hit was to the gym. There was a Russian tank and equipment. Our youth went out to the tank and started shouting for them to leave the village, then the tank turned around and fired parallel to the ground into the wall of the gymnasium. The hole was probably about my height and one and a half to two meters in diameter. The school was closed, the Russians knocked it out. After that, I still came to school, tried to clean the glass a little in the classrooms. But when I arrived on November 14 after my release, the school had terrible consequences from the attack. The second floor collapsed onto the first in several classrooms,» says school teacher Maryna.

More than 200 people live in the settlement, of which 20 are children. Currently, they study remotely in other institutions of the region.

The children's parents are outraged by the dismantling, because they say that only one wing, where the gym was located, was damaged, while the other part was intact. Now there is no school in the village, and it is not known how the children will learn when they enter the full-time format.

«The wing where there was a kindergarten, a dining room, a chemistry, physics, and history room — were all intact. We thought that they would leave this side to us and rebuild it. At first, they said so, but the equipment arrived and immediately began to break this side, not the one where there was a good hole from the gym, but from this side,» complained Olena Kozhushna.

The education department of the Shevchenkove community informed the journalists that the school was reorganized into a branch of the lyceum due to the damage, and the children and teachers were transferred to the educational institutions of the community.

According to the head of the department, Tetiana Honcharenko, after the end of the war, a junior school for grades 1-4 will be built in the village.

Where in Mykolaiv Oblast is there offline education?

57 educational institutions were allowed to work offline in the Mykolaiv region. Most of them are schools of Voznesensk and Pervomaisk districts. In addition, 94 schools work mixed, that is, children study offline in a certain sequence, for example, one week after another. Another 277 educational institutions work online.

It was also possible to organize an offline educational process in front-line Ochakiv, which is still in the zone of damage by enemy anti-aircraft missiles. There is a mixed form of education.

According to the monitoring of the Department of Education of the Mykolaiv City Council, 65% of schoolchildren want to study full-time.
