Traveling along mountain paths: two groups of evaders were detained while trying to enter Romania illegally

In Transcarpathia, border guards detained two groups of men who were trying to cross the mountains into Romania. For this they paid from 6 to 10 thousand dollars.
This was reported by the Western Regional Office of the State Border Service.
It is noted that the four men were discovered on March 18 by the border squad patrolling the mountainous section of the Ukrainian-Romanian border. Three of the detainees came to Transcarpathia from Kharkiv, their companion came from Cherkasy.
The men admitted that they intended to illegally cross the border with the help of a local resident. Each of the detainees paid 6,000 to 8,000 dollars for the services of the smugglers. The operatives of the detachment have already identified and detained a man who provided the evaders with the services of escorting them to the border.
Border guards detained another group of five men on March 19. According to the border service, on the outskirts of the village of Vyshkovo, the outfit stopped two residents of Kyiv region, a resident of Poltava region, Kirovohrad region, and Kherson region. Two of the detainees repeatedly tried to cross the border outside the checkpoints.
They made their first attempt at the border with Hungary. Currently, it is known that each of the five men paid from 7 to 10 thousand dollars for their «journey» to the mountains.
Regarding the detainees, protocols were drawn up on administrative violations provided for in Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses «Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine» and the case was referred to the court.
