The first container ships are planned to be launched soon from the ports of Odesa.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov told about this in the «Economic Truth» podcast of «Economic Chronicles».

According to him, since the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Russia, they could not do this for security reasons.

It is planned that two ships with containers will leave the Danube ports for Constanta (Romania) in the next few days.

«Our goal is to launch containers with our agricultural products up the Danube, from Ukraine to Austria and Germany,» said Oleksandr Kubrakov.

Ukraine plans to use an additional route through the Danube River to increase exports to pre-war levels. This corridor will be able to replace volumes transiting through Poland.

«We are already accepting applications. Two exits to Constanta have already been formed, so soon we will see the first containers that will go up the Danube,» Oleksandr Kubrakov.

It was previously reported that the national carrier «Ukrainian Danube Shipping» (UDP) is preparing to launch barge container caravans on the Middle and Upper Danube.
