Mykolaiv fencer Polozjuk has been named the best female athlete of July

Alina Polozuyk, a fencer from Mykolaiv, has been named the best female athlete of the month for July.

This was announced by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

The athlete was awarded the honour following her performance at the World Fencing Championships in the foil event. At the world championships, Polozuyk won a bronze medal, which was a historic achievement for Ukraine.

During the medal ceremony, the fencer said that she still hadn’t fully taken in the result of the World Championships:

“These are truly extraordinary emotions. I’m still reliving that moment. I’m just going about my normal life, training — and then suddenly I realise that I’m a World Championship bronze medallist. It’s amazing. I’m grateful to everyone for their support and belief in me,” said Alina Polozuyk.

It was previously reported that Alina Polozuyk, an athlete from Mykolaiv, won a bronze medal as part of the Ukrainian women’s foil fencing team in the team competition held from 16 to 21 June in the French town of Antony.
