Nine athletes from the Mykolaiv region will go to the 2024 Paralympics

Nine athletes from the Mykolaiv region received licenses to participate in this year's Paralympic Games.

The head of the department, Mykhailo Nikolaiev, said this during a briefing on August 6, NikVesti reports.

The international competition will be held from August 28 to September 8 in Paris. In total, nine athletes from the Mykolaiv region will compete for medals.

Four athletes from a pair of swimming:

  • Anna Hontar
  • Serhii Palamarchuk
  • Anhelina Maltseva
  • Dmytro Vasylenko

Fencing in carts:

  • Oleh Naumenko
  • Dmytro Seriozhenko

Pair of table tennis:

  • Nataliia Kosmina
  • Iryna Shinkariova

Ihor Tsvetov will also go to sports competitions. He will fight for a medal in para athletics.

«This is a great success, such a number (of athletes, — note) in such a difficult time. These are powerful people who deserve attention and respect,» said Mykhailo Nikolaiev.

Mykolaiv athletes in the 2024 Olympics

This year, the 2024 Olympic Games are being held in Paris. NikVesti has prepared a selection of participants who will compete for Olympic medals from the Mykolaiv region, as well as where and when to watch all their performances.

Since the start of the Olympics, a number of Mykolaiv athletes have already managed to take part in the competition. 18-year-old Mykolaiv athlete Oleksii Sereda took fifth place in the finals of the synchronized jumping competition from the 10-meter platform.

And Mykolaiv diver Kseniia Bailo in a duet with athlete Sofiia Liskun took seventh place at the Olympic Games in Paris in synchronized jumping from a 10-meter springboard. And Mykolaiv divers Danylo Konovalov and Oleh Kolodii took part in synchronized diving from a 3-meter springboard and took seventh place.

Women's saber competitions were also held at the Olympic Games. Mykolaiv fencer Olha Kharlan won the decisive battle for bronze. At the same time, Olha Kharlan played a key role on the way to gold in the team tournament.

Thus, Olha Kharlan became a six-time Olympic medalist, winning the gold of the team saber fencing tournament at the 2024 Games.
