On Wednesday, 6 April, a photography exhibition by Anastasiia Bakunova — a singer with the M. Kulish Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre — opened at the Mykolaiv Academic Artistic Drama Theatre.
The exhibition, entitled «Along the Paths of My Native Land», is dedicated to the nature of the artist’s homeland — the town of Kobeliaky in the Poltava region, according to NikVesti.

«In a world where people chase after money, status, quick thrills and virtual illusions, we forget what really matters — the life that nature gives us. Forests, rivers, animals and insects are disappearing right before our eyes, and we don’t even notice how we are losing it all. War takes people’s lives, but with it another life disappears — the life of our land… My exhibition is not a protest, but a quiet reminder that the beauty that surrounds us is the very meaning of our existence in this world. We must preserve what we have so that our children can see what we have seen, and even more,» said Anastasiia Bakunova.
The artist herself and her work have been influenced in particular by family traditions: her father is an artist and her mother a musician. From the age of six, Anastasia sang at the Children’s Creative Centre. At 12, she painted her first portrait, and at 15 she began selling her own works.

The photo exhibition «Along the Paths of My Native Land» was organised on the initiative of the artistic directors of two sister theatres — the Kulish Theatre in Kherson and the Mykolaiv Drama Theatre.
To round off the evening, the artist treated the audience to one of her own musical compositions. The photo exhibition «Along the Paths of My Native Land» can be viewed in the theatre’s Blue Hall.
As a reminder, an exhibition was opened at the Mykolaiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate Education (MOIPPO) to honour the memory of Valentyn Merkulov, a Mykolaiv-based artist, illustrator and teacher.
