Humanitarian aid from Taiwan: Since the beginning of the year, Mykolaiv has received 6 cars and building materials for reconstruction

Since the beginning of 2023, Taiwan has provided 1 million dollars for the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. With these funds, generators, charging stations and construction materials were purchased.

This was discussed in the course of the report of the public organization «Network for the Protection of National Interests «ANTS» in the Mykolaiv City Council, «NikVesti» writes.

According to Vasyl Sehin, executive director of the PO «ANTS», Taiwan initially planned to direct financial assistance to the purchase of generators to provide electricity to the Mykolaiv Oblast and Kherson Oblast. But after a thorough analysis of the needs and problems of the regions, it was decided to implement a more reasonable and targeted use of funds.

— Going back to the beginning of 2023, when Taiwan allocated a million dollars to help Mykolaiv Oblast and Kherson Oblast, then the energy problem was the main one, and Taiwan wanted to first of all send funds to provide these regions with generators. But we understood what problems cities are facing, we understood that there is no longer a critical need for generators, but the prices for generators are high enough, and this would simply be a waste of resources. That's why we decided to help widely and buy what is really needed, and not what we immediately wanted to do. We took a more difficult route and, focusing on those problems and needs in cities, purchased charging stations, and construction materials, grader grabbers, which allow us to quickly dismantle rubble after shelling. At that time, Taiwan wanted help to get through the difficult winter period, but now we see no less challenges, because the energy infrastructure has already been significantly destroyed, there have already been some shellings, and we see that there is a need, so we will ask to continue allocating help, — noted Vasyl Sehin.

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, noted that thanks to cooperation with «ANTS», the city received the necessary pipes for replacing indoor water pipes, as well as construction equipment for reconstruction after explosions and destruction. Cars were also handed over to utility companies to support humanitarian measures.

— In Mykolaiv, since April 11, 2022, there is no centralized water supply for drinking water, and the water that is supplied has an increased content of chlorides, and this greatly affects our water networks, both main and domestic. Therefore, thanks to «ANTS» we received almost 12 thousand linear meters of pipes, which we use to replace indoor networks. We also received several hundred tons of construction equipment, which went to cover the needs after explosions and destruction in the city. «ANTS» handed over six cars to us, which we provided to utility companies. And when Russian terrorists blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP, not only people needed help, but also animals, that's why we evacuated these animals from the Kherson region with these cars, — he said.

We remind that in May, Mykolaiv received six vehicles for city utility services and more than 5 kilometers of pipes of various diameters to improve the operation of the water supply, which was damaged by enemy shelling.
